Entry 001

Name: Boomer

Class: Hybrid Hybrid Icon (Entity / Phenomena) Entity Icon Phenomena Icon

Danger | Disruption Level: 2 | 5

Discovery: First found by Canadian Minecraft streamer "Razerian" on August 24, 2023, after failing to find a Cherry Grove biome for over 48 hours despite playing on Minecraft Version 1.20.1 with no mods or datapacks.

Description: "Boomer" is a colloquial name, given by Razerian and his chat members, for an entity that resembles a normal Minecraft player, with a simple skin of a blue Creeper wearing a tuxedo, a look which was typical for players of the time. Boomer does not have a username to speak of.

Boomer has a strong dislike for new things, and will make attempts to purge any feature, mob, biome, item, and structure created after Minecraft Version 1.8. These behaviors affect the player's entire game across all newly created worlds. Older worlds can still be affected.

Affected players may notice a lack of generation in biomes, structures, or mobs that were originally introduced after Version 1.8, regardless of seed or difficulty settings. Players may also notice a lack of items introduced after 1.8 within loot tables. Items introduced after 1.8, however, can still be crafted, if materials are available.

Players teleporting to the coordinates of certain structures or biomes via the /locate command may find that their destination is completely missing. In one such example, Minecraft streamer Razerian complained of being teleported to a Plains biome despite his usage of /locate pointing him to an otherwise valid spawning location for a Cherry Grove, after the seed was tested by unaffected investigators. Occasionally, Boomer may physically appear in affected worlds without the player's notice, often to loot chests of "undesired" items, blow up structures created after 1.8 using TNT, or to fight the player.

When in PvP, Boomer uses a setup and skill set similar to that of a typical player before Version 1.8; spam-clicking the attack button, not attempting critical hits, refusing to use a shield, or only using minimally enchanted Iron or Diamond gear. Because of this skill gap, Boomer is often confounded by the usage of tools introduced after Version 1.8, such as Shields, Netherite gear, and Totems of Undying, making Shields a particularly easy counter should a player get into a fight.

Other Notes: I guess he’s just the most annoying kind of nostalgia goggle-glued Minecraft player cranked up to eleven. Weird stuff. -Bougie_Silvally
